Luck O' The Irish

I found these little guys in my front yard this afternoon, and knew I had to share! They aren't 4 leaf clovers, but, hey, 3 is still a lucky number! Have a safe St. Patty's Day and have fun out there :)

Companies are looking for fresh, young talent, and social media is HUGE. We are in the prime age to grasp social media and learn as technology grows. So take a few minutes every day to learn something new related to social media. Whether it be learning how to re-tweet, how to use bit.ly or learning the meaning of #FF, it’ll be 5 minutes well spent. Shameless Money Saving Trick!

Cheaper rings that aren't sterling silver or similar material are sometimes made out of copper or nickel.  When you sweat or wear the ring often, it can leave a green ring around your finger. Not cute!
I learned this trick years ago so you can keep your favorite ring and lose the green finger.

Break out all the rings you want to "preserve."  I got this cute one at a little boutique in St. Louis.

Take any clear nail polish. I happen to have  an OPI top coat. Any one will work.  Paint the inside of the ring with 2 coats of the nail polish.  Let the coats dry in between.

Viola! You can now wear your favorite rings in confidence! No one will ever know you paid 10 bucks for them, and you don't have to worry about them rubbing off on your finger.

Happy Monday!

Romper Mania!

All photos from WeHeartIt.com

I love love love rompers.
I started out with one a few years back, and now I own about 8 or 9.
 I love how they are super simple, yet chic. They're so easy to wear, and a perfect solution when you're running late for class.  It's definitely becoming romper weather her in Phoenix (It was like 88 yesterday!) I can't wait to break out the romps and were them with pride.

What do you think about them?

Have You Seen The Gas Prices???

{Gas prices: Cringe}

{Remember when gas was this cheap? Me neither.}

{Could this be the price soon?}

In lieu of the raising gas prices, I think we should walk around barefoot, hold hands, and wear flowers in our hair.  We will work from home and have daily picnics and absorb the sunshine.  Ok, reality check. Not gonna happen. But if you drive a car, you have probably cringed every time you go to the pump to fill up. Each time I get gas, I end up paying almost 3 dollars more per tank.  The dollar of a barrel of oil is sky rocketing.  The tension in Libya is not cooling down anytime soon.

It is important to stay up to date with what is happening around the world. I know we are all very busy in our everyday lives, but things happening around the world are affecting us, and gas prices are a prime example. Here is a video that will get you up to date on gas prices and the conflict between Libya and the US.

Tuesday's Tip: Be Careful What You Post

In today's day and age, people are posting everything on Twitter and Facebook.  You know where your bestie bought her new handbag the second she walks out the door and where your brother got on his math exam. We live in a time period where we must always know who is where, doing what, and with whom (hence, Foursquare was born.)  You want your fellow classmates to see that you are having a great college experience, so you post pictures from last weekend's rager, but that keg stand pic may cost you your future career.  There is a fine line that many people cross when it comes to what to post, and what not to post. I have cam up with a few guidelines to live by when thinking "Should I, or shouldn't I?"

--> When in doubt, DON'T POST IT.  If you are ever uncertain about if a picture is to risque to post or if a comment is too vulger, it probably is. A staggering percentage of future employers will search for you before hiring, and if they see pictures that scream immaturity and irresponsible, they will go with the other candidate. This goes for statuses and tweets as well.  Don't post "Going to get wasted after this week is over."  You can still let your friends and followers know what you are doing, but do it in a more professional way... "Happy hour on Friday is a must after this hectic week!"

-->DO NOT post any potential career opportunities/landed gigs. I read a story once about someone who just landed a job with a fabulous company, and she posted it on Facebook without thinking.  The company saw this, and saw it as automatically immature and unappealing.  She was immediately fired for her judgement (or lack thereof.)

--> You ever know who you could be offending.  An innocent post to you may be insulting to a co-worker or boss. Think, think, think!!

Just remember, when you post any picture or status, it is lost in the world of cyberspace forever.  Although you may delete it, it can still be searched and found, and you never know who may have seen it.

A Day With The Media

I intern at a PR firm, and one of our clients is Florence Crittenton, which is this awesome organization that houses young women that have been in unfortunate situations. FloCrit give teens and young adults a second chance and a different outlook on life.

Each year, there is a luncheon that raises money for this organization.  I was lucky enough to help plan for this huge event.

Bill Walton, an NBA legend, was the keynote speaker for the event and Gerda Weissman Klein, a holocaust survivor was also a speaker.  They were both wonderful and such an inspiration to the girls.  They each have such an amazing story of how they became the person they are today and shared truly motivational stories of their pastimes.

I had such a great time and I can't wait to do more events like these!

Tom Toms

TOMS are probably the best thing next to sliced bread. Ok, that may be a slight exaggeration.  But seriously.

They are not only a fashion statement, but they speak louder than any other brand of footwear.  For those of you who don't know, for every pair of shoes sold, Toms donates a pair of shoes to children who cannot afford them.  I just saw their new collection for spring and can;t wait to get my hands on another pair.  Check out all the shoes they have here.

{my TOMS}

If you don't have a pair yet, get to it! They are great, so super comfy, and without doing the work, you are donating a pair of shoes to a child that may have never had a pair in their life.

Cowboys and Indians

Opposite attract.

Hannah and I fit together like Ying and Yang. Two peas in a pod.  Peanut butter and strawberry jelly.  We balance each other out.

I met Hannah this past summer in New York City. She was my random roommate for the summer, and it turned out to be the best experience of my life.

I have learned a lot from her, from how to tell a fake Louis Vuitton from an authentic, to how to always be goofy and have fun.

She has inspired me.  I have inspired her (She told me, I'm not just making this up to sound good.) We have truly inspired each other.

You can tell we are different by the color of how hair and where we came from. But you can tell we are similar by the values we share and ambition in our eyes. I share some insight on PR and she sheds some inspiration on broadcast.

She also inspired me to start this blog! You should check hers out ---> endlesslychic.blogspot.com

Who inspires you?

Tuesday Tip for Success: Communication is Key

Communicate.  Seems like a no brainer, right? Some people think communication is easy, but it can really make or break a relationship with a friend, family member, or co-worker. It is vital to learn how to communicate with your fellow co-workers, especially if you are just starting out your career. I'm a public relations major, and we have to communicate constantly with each other and relay that information to our client and then to the media and press, without losing any details or importance. If there is no communication within the company, then communication with a client is out of the question. My philosophy on communication is this: I would rather over communicate than under communicate. Getting 2 emails verifying the address of any event is better than not getting the email at all. And if you are still unsure about something, pick up the phone and ask. We are all so tied up in our laptops and email that we forget that an old-fashion phone call can sometimes be the best. Once the communication is solid within the company you work for, then you can have effective communication with your clients or business partners.
