All About Cuticles

Let's just say I wasn't blessed with good cuticles.  The part in Mean Girls when Karen says "Ugh! My nail bits suck," I sigh 'I feel ya girl.'  I have spent a lot of money on lotions and cuticle cream trying to hydrate the heck out of the skin that acts as a protective seal.  After years of trial and error, I think I have finally found the lotion and oil that works best for me. And trust me, if it works for me, it'll work for you.

The Hemp Hand protectant is my savior.  The organic beeswax and hemp oil absorbs right in to the skin. It has a great smell, too. A fair judgment would say that it smells like a hippie. No, not a smelly, haven't showered in days, trippin' on acid hippie. But an earthy, down-to-earth natural hippie.  Click here to buy it.

The Almond Oil and Cuticle Oil has organic olive oil and essential fatty acids that really works wonders on dry cuticles. It leaves the skin smooth and soft, and is great for everyday use (I actually use it at night so it can't work while I sleep.) Click here to buy it.

Both of these items are from the Body Shop.  While this store may be a little on the pricey side, I say it is totally worth every penny. This is truly a great company.  The do tons of campaigns like "Activate Self- Esteem" and "Protect our Planet" and they are against animal testing.

So try it it, out lemme know what you think! Thanks for reading :)

Peace. Ohm. Namaste.

This world is crazy. People are running about their daily lives without thinking twice about they are doing.  Their lives pass them by and  by the time they realize they need to slow down, it's too late.

We never really stop to enjoy what we have and appreciate the small things in life. It is the simple things in life that makes the world go round.

The symbol above represents inner peace and tranquility (to me).  The ohm symbol has hundreds of years of history behind it and means something a little different to each person. I try to my best to stay true to myself and never take a minute for granted.  Life is so precious and if we all don't stop, breath and appreciate, it will be too late. So take a few minutes everyday to pause and have a moment of inner peace and meditation. Whether that means closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths, or walking outside to enjoy nature, do something everyday for YOU.

Tuesday Tip for Success

Every Tuesday, I will give you all a tip for success. As a senior at Arizona State University, I am always thinking about what I can do to one-up my fellow classmates.  These are things that I have learned throughout my 4 years of college and I think they are vital to anyone's success, regardless your field of study.  Enough yapping, let's get to it.

Always get a business card
With social media taking over the world, you would think that business cards are a blast from the past. But the truth is that they are just as important today as they were 20 years ago.  Each business card you have in hand is one more connection, contact or future employer.  After any interview, conference or meeting, ALWAYS ask for a business card. With the business card, write on the back where you met that person and the date you met with them. Six months later, when you are looking for a internship or job, you can whip out the business card, know who the person was (in case you forgot) and when you met with them. You can them email them and start the conversation out like this: "Good morning Jim Johnson- I met you July 3rd at the PRSA conference in Phoenix...." When he sees that 1.) You know his name, occupation and contact info and 2.) the date you met, he will be more than impressed. This is just a simple way to gain a possible gig in the future.

Stay tuned for next Tuesday's Tip for Success!

National Margarita Day... Who knew?

If you've read my "About Me" section, you know that I absolutely LOVE margaritas. No, I'm not an alcoholic and and I don't need one at my bedside to fall alseep. But they are my favorite drink of choice, and on long days of school, work and internship, a margarita will cure all of my built up stress.  When I found out that today was National Margarita Day, I was uber excited.  I'm pretty sure this day was created just for me.  I never order anything else at restaurants or bars (unless I'm watching my calories, then it's a Vodka Tonic.) So take a minute, grab some margarita mix and some Jose, a little lime and salt, and savor the moment.  It's a reason to celebrate!
